The Well Roots Approach to Women’s Mental Health
Holistic and Somatic Therapy at
Well Roots Counseling
At the heart of our therapeutic approach at Well Roots Counseling is the Bottom-Up Therapy. This method prioritizes the body's innate sensations, recognizing that feelings or even bodily reactions often manifest before conscious thought. Such automatic, unconscious responses signal feelings of insecurity or danger, indicating a survival stress response and potential dysregulation.
Our trauma-informed therapy, deeply rooted in the bottom-up approach, fosters healing relationships. Within this safe space, individuals can explore the underlying reasons for their feelings of unsafety—especially when feeling activated, it makes it challenging to control thoughts and emotions—without becoming overwhelmed.
By first establishing safety and stability, our online therapists guide clients in navigating these dysregulated emotions. This balanced approach allows individuals to fully experience their feelings while also engaging their logical faculties, ensuring they remain anchored in the present moment.
At Well Roots Counseling, we champion the bottom-up approach, believing that by addressing these automatic and unconscious responses, we pave the way for nervous system regulation. This holistic therapy aids in healing from past traumas, granting individuals enhanced access to their cognitive reasoning. Experience the fusion of emotion and logic with us—it's truly the best of both worlds.
We work with individuals and couples with a specialization on women’s counseling, anxiety and maternal mental health therapy.

Is Therapy Right for You?
Signs and Symptoms You May Benefit From Going To Therapy
Your mind goes to the worst-case scenario and you find yourself stuck in a spiral of doom.
Irritated and short-fused with everyone even though you can rationally talk yourself down after the fact.
Feeling lost and sad about your “old life” and though you feel generally happy about your baby, you still miss the ease of being baby-free. Even our partner may not fully understand, adding to the feelings of isolation and lack of support.
Life is getting hard to handle and you feel overwhelmed. Over-tired. Over…it.
Imagine What This Would Feel Like…Benefits of Going To Therapy
Enhanced Creativity and Productivity
Engaging in therapy can help individuals unblock mental barriers or address underlying anxieties that hinder their creative processes or work productivity. By understanding and addressing these barriers, individuals often find they can think more freely, approach problems with fresh perspectives, and become more productive in both personal and professional endeavors.
Improved Physical Health
The mind-body connection is powerful. Addressing emotional and psychological stressors can lead to tangible physical benefits. For instance, reducing anxiety and stress through therapy can help lower blood pressure, improve sleep, and boost the immune system. Additionally, therapy can support individuals in addressing behaviors that impact physical health, such as overeating, smoking, or neglecting self-care.
Enhanced Mindfulness and Presence
Many therapeutic approaches, especially those incorporating mindfulness-based techniques, can help individuals become more present in their daily lives. This heightened awareness can lead to a deeper appreciation of life's moments, improved focus, and a more profound connection to one's surroundings and loved ones.
Personal Growth and Self-Actualization
Beyond addressing specific issues or challenges, therapy can be a journey of personal growth. It provides a space for introspection, self-discovery, and the exploration of one's values, desires, and goals. Over time, this can lead individuals closer to achieving self-actualization, where they realize their potential and live in alignment with their true selves.

Heal From Trauma with Online or In-Person Therapy
At Well Roots Counseling, we understand the lasting impact trauma can have on your mind, body, and relationships. Whether in person or online, therapy offers a consistent and safe space to begin making sense of what you've been through. Our therapists help you process difficult experiences, reconnect with your sense of self, and develop tools to feel more grounded in the present. Healing takes time, but with the right support, it’s possible to move forward with more clarity and strength.
